Useful tips for flooring

Thank you for purchasing solid wood floor boards produced by our company.
We are sure the floor will serve you for a long time and provide your home with warmth and comfort.

We recommend to take into consideration our tips:

2. Base preparation

Mudsills are installed every 40cm, in exceptional cases every 50cm.
To protect the wooden floor against ground moisture, a simple (black) film should be laid under mudsills.
Mudsills must be of max 14% humidity. Mudsill dimensions: thickness – 50mm, height – depending on the desired floor level raising, but no more than 120mm.

We recommend to install mudsills by using metal fixing corners 50x50x(according to the height of mudsills). It will require some more expenses in comparison with fixing the mudsills with anchors. However, when a mudsill shrinks, anchors may loosen and, as a result, the floor may start rumbling. Furthermore, it is very easy to level mudsills if corners are used. The gap appeared between a mudsill and concrete should be filled in with packing foam.

2. Laying the floor boards

Before flooring, we recommend to keep floor boards in a room for 2 to 3 days. All „wet“ works (concreting, puttying) must be finished.

Floor boards are driven into mudsills through engraving. It is recommended to apply the wood glue along the board at the engraving and under the board at mudsills. It will help to avoid floor squeaking.

3. Final works

Having laid the floor boards, point gaps and polish. Cover the floor with a film and thick cardboard sheets. Continue interior trim and repairs. Having finished all interior trim works, remove cardboard sheets and point all gaps. Prepare the floor for varnishing, varnish at least twice.

Note that wood is a hygroscopic substance sensitive to humidity changes. It is natural that small gaps up to 1 mm may appear in winter, during the heating season, or in dry summer. These gaps will disappear later, when the humidity increases.

Wooden floor must be treated carefully! Mud, sand or gravel will quickly scratch the floor. Poured out fluid must be cleaned without delay. Clean the floor with a damp (not wet) cloth, use chemical agents for cleaning the wooden floor.
